Spring has definitely sprung... Straight into summer

I got to the farm this evening after a couple weeks away and couldn't believe the progress of the fruit trees and berries. It is amazing how fast they are growing. We are sowing new hybrid Comanche Bermuda blend pasture grass seed tomorrow and Tuesday, if it doesn't rain us out (man, that feels nice to say that:-), replanting the pastures after the drought destroyed our grasses. I'm blown away at the weeds this year, but they say it is a product of the drought conditions the last couple years. The stinger weeds are out of control. If you wander off the beaten path at Go Away Farm, make certain you have on something to protect your legs and feet. It can take days to recover from kicking stinger weeds. It will be a trip that lives on in your memory, for sure...

Blackberries are on the way!

Peaches are plentiful. I counted 45 on one limb. Have to thin them now back to one every five inches or so. There are hundreds on each tree. But, the pears are pitiful this year. Not too many. Work to do.

The Champanelle table grapes are coming on strong, but we lost the Thompson seedless grapes in the drought.
