Winter time at Go Away Farm

The Peruvian Posse of miniature donkeys was on guard at Go Away Farm. Especially if you are a varmint looking for a baby calf. These are some of the sweetest, yet swiftest killers of small varmints that you have ever seen. They are big pets. Yard ornaments, so to speak.

We've had four "baldy" calves born these past two holiday weeks. A baldy is a cross between a Hereford and an Angus. They make beautiful calves.

There is a strange beauty about the wintertime. Seems that the trees turn to giant sculptures. The monochromatic tones of winter are comforting. And there isn't anything that comes close to the smell of burning oak in the fire pit to signal the arrival of winter at Go Away Farm.

Galen tries out the new Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 gauge over / under shotgun. It is light and tight. Nice gun. Can't wait to hunt quail with it this year. Supposedly a banner year due to all the rain we've had in Texas. Here, Charles Ingram manned the trigger on the skeet machine as I (Galen) took out a few clay pigeons.

The addition of the rock posts on the new Guest Barn & Conference Center is a nice touch. It ties the facility into the house real nicely.
