Here piggy...

Yes, this is a real hog...and yes, it was killed near our farm. Near 700 lbs... I think they actually said it was near 800, but just in case my memory is failing, lets go with 700...

And yes, they have found Go Away Farm. I walked up on 27 pigs a couple weeks back. They were between 50-70 lbs... rooting under the oaks in the back pasture. They have torn up things here of late. We held a fruitless, no, make that pigless hunt here last week. We'll do better with the moon is back out. Standby for more pig news.

Fall colors at the farm and elsewhere...

The little cyprus trees have grown up! They were beautiful this year right before the needles came off.

This is a reflection of the oak at the small pond. Looked like a painting to me.

Fall morning at Go Away.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this red sweetgum tree between Madisonville and Tyler recenly. I stopped, made a u-turn and went back to take a picture with my iPhone camera. Amazing that this is in Texas. Or, maybe it's my first year to ever look around:-)

Loved this color in Claremont California recently when I was there. Thought I'd share it along with the fall color at the farm.

The last vegetables gathered before the frost...

This year was especially tough for gardening. Even with drip irrigation, the heat and drought were trouble for the garden. We've never seen pests like we had attack the blooms and aphids. Thousands of wasps, bees and hornets. Mikki loved the fact that the aphids weren't their usual problem, but the wasps were a bit much. The tomatoes took the brunt of the heat and didn't produce nearly as well as historically. Maybe this next year we'll have better luck. Pray for rain next summer. This Fall we've been blessed with several very nice rains back to back, but not enough yet to re-fill the lakes.

Peppers, shallots and mustard greens ready for the freezer...
