"Equipped To Lead" is in the bookstores!

Dan Sanders and I worked since last August on our book, Equipped To Lead. It is a follow up book to his New York Times bestseller, Built To Serve. It arrived in the stores the last week of July, one month early. Seems the publisher's printer, RR Donnelley had some downtime:-)

You can go to www.4PAssessment (People, Process, Partners & Performance) to take a free assessment of your company. It will provide you a nice colored chart of where you perceive your company to need focus. The Organizational Assessment tool is also up and running. You can register on the site and for $30 per employee you can have all of your employees and leadership take the assessment and see where you have a disconnect between the two groups, and where you really should be putting attention.

A hot and dry July!

We had a wonderful crop of cherry tomatoes this year! They were about as good as I ever remember eating. In fact, we're still enjoying them. We may have to build a greenhouse so we can keep these coming during the winter:=-)

We had a disaster during early July. A strong wind blew for about four days at the farm wreaking havoc on the giant 150 year + oak in the front of the house. One Monday Isidro heard all of the limbs crash to the ground at once. Mikki arrived a couple hours later and gave me a call. It was a very sad day for us. You just won't replace these in our lifetime.

Table grape vines are coming along nicely. These are Thompson Seedless and Champanelle grapes. It'll be a couple more growing seasons before we enjoy grapes from them, but in due time, we'll be glad we worked so hard on the vines.
